Our Vision

Our vision at Haven High Academy is to provide a world class education for all students to enable them to reach their true potential in a safe and supported environment. They will graduate from HHA with the skills required to ensure they are successful citizens of the future.

Welcome to Haven High Academy, a place of high expectations with a clear vision and a strong sense of values. Our core purpose is to provide students with a world class education to ensure that they enter the world of work or higher education with the required skills to be successful.  We care passionately about each individual member of the Academy community and take great pride in working together as a team to ensure individual success is achieved. We are privileged to educate our students and will endeavour to do whatever it takes to ensure these young people achieve their true potential.

Our world is ever changing and we are an adaptive organisation with strong leadership which endeavours to maintain a “world class” education despite the circumstances. The recent COVID-19 pandemic is a great example of how we were able to adapt by developing a high quality teaching platform using Microsoft Teams 365 before “lockdown 1” was announced. The proactive staff team embraced change and delivered more than 15,000 remote student lessons on a weekly basis. We continued to support our collective mental health by providing regular catch up calls and encouraging acts of kindness within our community.

Some members of our academy require additional support and in recognition of this we remained open every day during the pandemic offering high quality face to face education for those who most needed it. Our holiday clubs were well received and fun was had by all including the staff. Our Additional Learning Faculty is a unique aspect of the academy providing specialist education for all those in need, with a particular focus on the acquisition of language, grammar, numeracy and reading skills.

We know that strong academic qualifications matched with an all-round education will enable our students to succeed in a competitive employment market. Youth unemployment is increasing and it is more important than ever that we provide each individual with the knowledge and understanding to be successful following their graduation from our academy. Our Director of Aspiration and the Future Zone will support your child to develop those essential insights to life.

School should be enjoyable and we know that happy students are more likely to be successful.  It is our responsibility to bring out our students’ talents, to broaden their interests and to develop their personal qualities.  Our formal curriculum and co-curricular activities will provide students with the opportunity to fully develop their talents.

We are truly excited about the future of our academy and the success it will bring to the wider community and will continue to work intelligently and collaboratively to provide a remarkable experience for our students. Many aspects of the future remain uncertain however you can be assured that the vision and values will be maintained at Haven High Academy regardless.

I look forward to meeting you in the future.

What are the main things that worry you about secondary school?

You may have some worries about the move from year 6 to year 7. The intent of this transition website is to provide you with the information and the confidence to join us feeling more at ease about the next step in your education.

We asked Chloe C – Class of 24(Y7) about her time first year with us at Haven High Academy.

Hi Chloe, can you tell us how you felt before you came to Haven High Academy?

To start with I was kind of nervous because I had one friend from the transition week. I felt a little scared also because I didn’t know any of the teachers.

What in particular were you nervous and scared about Chloe?

I was really nervous about making friends and getting to know the new teachers. I was also scared that the work would be too hard for me. But it turned out I was more clever than I thought – and when I was doing well in my classes I was moved up 5 forms. That changed my perspective and made me believe in myself a whole lot more.

How did you find your first few weeks at Tollfield campus?

I found them really exciting, challenging and fun. On the first day it was a little bit hard, because I didn’t really know anyone at the school. However, the teachers were really nice, fair and in this time I found my best friend who I have now.

So on reflection how do you look back on your time at Tollfield campus in Year 7?

I LOVED IT! I am a Form Ambassador, I have a large group of friends and I really enjoyed the school work. The teachers challenge us more with their work which I loved. So yes, I really, really enjoyed this journey so far!
