Year 7 Students Rise to the Challenge of Delivering Dinner!

Year 7 Students Rise to the Challenge of Delivering Dinner!

On Friday 15 May, 21 of our talented Year 7 students stepped out of the classroom and into the world of work, taking part in an exciting real-world business challenge hosted right here in school.

The 'Can You Deliver the Dinner?' Pilgrim Foodservice Challenge put our young people firmly in the driving seat — tasked with the kind of problems that real logistics professionals face every single day. Could they plan efficient delivery routes, get food to customers on time, stay within driver regulations, crunch the numbers and present a fully costed plan? The pressure was on!

The event was expertly organised and delivered by Pilgrim Foodservice, with huge thanks going to Rob and Ally, who generously gave their time to work alongside our students, and to Donna Garrard from the Greater Lincolnshire Careers Hub for her invaluable support on the day.

Students didn't just solve logistics puzzles — they got a fascinating insight into careers and life at Pilgrim Foodservice, a thriving local employer with national reach, while building vital employability skills that will serve them well beyond school.

Working in small, dynamic teams, students threw themselves into every aspect of running a business: crafting a team name, logo and strapline, dividing up responsibilities, and stepping into professional roles as team leaders, accountants and transport planners. The results were impressive, with creativity and critical thinking on full display right up to the final presentations.

A fantastic experience — and a glimpse of just what our Year 7s are capable of!

We had three teams, Speedy express, NFS (National Food Service) and Spoons Catering. Congratulations to the winning team, Spoons Catering made up Robert (Team leader), Tajus, Zhalya, Klaudia, Kendrick and Angela.
