Could your child be entitled to Free School Meals?

From September 2026, changes to the Universal Credit rules mean that more families may be eligible for Free School Meals.

If you receive Universal Credit, it’s worth checking whether your family qualifies. Applying could help with the cost of school meals and make sure your child receives the support they’re entitled to.

✅ There is no household earnings limit for Universal Credit households under the new rules.
✅ Your child must attend an eligible school, such as Haven High.
✅ You will need to apply so your eligibility can be checked.
ℹ️ Even if you don’t currently receive Universal Credit, you may still qualify through other benefits or circumstances.
